Pinus oocarpa Schiede ex Schlectendahl 1838

Taxonomic notes

Two varieties, oocarpa and trifoliata . P. tecunumanii has been placed in synonymy, but is now regarded as a distinct species (2).

Pinus oocarpa var. oocarpa syns: P. oocarpa var. oocarpoides Endlicher 1847; P. oocarpa var. manzanoi Martínez 1940.

Pinus oocarpa var. trifoliata Martínez 1948 syns: P. oocarpa forma trifoliata Martínez 1945.

Range

Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and NW Nicaragua. See also (5). Trees reported from Belize (3, 4) are now assigned to P. tecunumanii (2).
